Premium Hardware with a Different Engine

Samsung has officially unveiled its flagship Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+ tablets, and both machines run on MediaTek Dimensity 9500 silicon instead of the familiar Qualcomm hardware. If you are shopping for a high-end Android slate, the immediate question is whether this processor swap changes your daily experience or makes spending flagship money harder to justify.

On the outside, Samsung keeps the premium display formula intact. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra features a massive 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 2,800 x 1,752 pixels and up to a 120 Hz refresh rate for fluid scrolling and animations. Samsung shaved the chassis down to an astonishing 5.1 mm thick, making it the company's thinnest Galaxy Tab to date.

Meanwhile, the smaller Galaxy Tab S12+ uses a 12.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel offering 2,960 x 1,848 resolution and the same 120 Hz refresh rate. Both screens deliver smooth motion for everyday media consumption without altering the core visual fidelity you expect at this price point.

Battery, Cameras, and Connectivity Splits

Memory configurations divide the two models noticeably. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra comes with up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, while the Galaxy Tab S12+ tops out at 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage. Both models happily accept microSD cards up to 2 TB, so expanding local space for your files remains wonderfully straightforward.

Power delivery matches the physical dimensions of the chassis. Battery capacities stand at a hefty 11,600 mAh on the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and 10,600 mAh on the Galaxy Tab S12+, with 45 W charging supported on both devices. You also get Bluetooth 6.0, optional 5G variants with nano-SIM and eSIM support, quad speakers, IP68 dust and water resistance, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and a bundled S Pen right out of the box.

Networking and rear optics show clear tier differences between the hardware packages. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra supports Wi-Fi 7 and features dual 13 MP and 8 MP rear cameras, whereas the Galaxy Tab S12+ is limited to Wi-Fi 6E and a single 13 MP rear camera.

Software Lifecycle and Market Release

Samsung ships the Galaxy Tab S12+ and Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra running Android 17 and One UI 9 out of the box, ensuring long-term software support as a central selling point for anyone planning to keep their tablet for years.

The hardware hits retail soon for buyers tracking release calendars, demanding steep, premium prices while swapping in MediaTek silicon. For owners of previous generations, the real question is whether a thinner chassis and a new processor brand justify opening your wallet, or if your current setup handles web browsing and video streaming just fine without an expensive upgrade.
