Xiaomi 18 Fold Brings A4 Proportions to Foldable Flagships

Xiaomi has redesigned the book-style foldable to match standard A4 paper proportions, fixing the cramped outer display problem. The phone packs a 6,000 mAh battery into a 5.02 mm slim chassis with a nearly invisible crease. It makes one-handed messaging on a foldable practical without opening the device.

The main flaw of most book-style foldables is their remote-control form factor, which makes typing on the outer screen without typos practically impossible. With the Xiaomi 18 Fold, engineers spent 20 months fixing this ergonomic headache: the handset features the natural proportions of an A4 sheet (a 16:11.3 aspect ratio). On the outside, you get a comfortable 5.38-inch display that spares your fingers and eyesight, while the inside opens into a full-fledged 7.58-inch workspace.

A three-stage teardrop hinge handles ergonomics beneath the surface, reducing the crease depth to an imperceptible 30 microns so your finger no longer catches in a deep trench. Xiaomi wrapped the chassis in proprietary Dragon Crystal 3.0 tempered glass paired with an aluminum frame. Weighing 219 grams and measuring just 5.02 mm thick unfolded, the device avoids feeling like a bulky brick despite packing a massive 6,000 mAh battery with 67W wired (and 50W wireless) charging, alongside a triple-camera setup led by a 200 MP main sensor and a 3.5× telephoto lens.

Still, standard marketing tricks remain: high-speed LPDDR6 memory is reserved exclusively for the top-tier 16 GB + 1 TB configuration, and the gold ceramic edition has been turned into artificial scarcity with a limited run of 1,500 units. Ultimately, this is a rare foldable flagship that is genuinely usable one-handed on the move, eliminating the need to unfold both halves just to send a quick chat reply.
