Honor Fixes Clogged Hair Dryers With a Brilliant Reverse-Flow Button

Honor's new $48 hair dryer introduces a reverse-airflow self-cleaning mode that blows out accumulated dust and hair with a single button press. This simple mechanical fix tackles the premature hardware failure that kills most high-speed beauty gadgets.

Any powerful hair-drying appliance sooner or later turns into a vacuum cleaner that sucks in not just air, but everything floating around your bathroom. High-speed motors in compact bodies get clogged with hair and dust faster than the heating element wears out, after which the hardware either heads to the trash or faces an expensive repair bill at a service center.

Honor solved this problem gracefully and simply by launching the Honor Life High-Speed Hair Dryer 2 Pro. The novelty went on sale in China at a price of 359 yuan (about $48), with a special launch price of 339 yuan.

What hides inside the casing

- The device weighs just 354 grams without the cable and comes in blue and pink.

- The main feature is a self-cleaning function that spares you from having to take the casing apart or dig inside with a brush.

With a single button press, the hair dryer reverses its airflow direction, blowing dust and lint straight out of the internal air channel.

The device runs on a brushless motor that spins up to 110,000 rpm. At a nominal power rating of 1,600 W, the peak airflow velocity hits 65 m/s, while the noise level stays at or below 66 dB. A TOF (Time-of-Flight sensor that measures distance using light reflections) system handles temperature control, and during operation the system generates up to 4 billion plasma ions designed to tame frizzy hair.

Who needs this and why it matters

Five operating modes include smart temperature detection, a kids' mode, constant temperature, smoothing, and alternating hot and cold air. A grip sensor built into the handle detects your hand position: let go, and the hair dryer automatically drops into standby mode.

The Honor Life High-Speed Hair Dryer 2 Pro has officially hit the shelves in China.

Reversible blowing solves the main durability headache of high-powered domestic gadgets for pennies. This self-cleaning feature ought to become mandatory for any gear packed with high-revving motors, otherwise manufacturers will keep peddling devices with artificially capped lifespans. Frankly, this little reverse button saves you vastly more nerves and cash than a dozen questionable ions printed on marketing brochures.
