uawei is pushing back against the ubiquitous trend of ultra-tall, narrow smartphones with the unveiling of the Pura X View, a device defined by its deliberately wide form factor. Despite featuring a 6.39-inch diagonal, its usable display area spans an impressive 114.27 cm² with a 96.1% screen-to-body ratio. To put that into perspective, it delivers more functional workspace than the 6.9-inch iPhone 17 Pro Max. According to Richard Yu, head of Huawei's Consumer Business Group, this layout yields 16% more surface area when watching video and a 21% boost when browsing web pages vertically. Reading articles and reviewing documents is notably more comfortable, though the trade-off is ergonomics: reaching across the screen with one hand on the move is now considerably harder.
The real engineering feat sits beneath the surface. Inside a chassis just 6.68 mm thick and weighing 201 grams, Huawei has managed to fit a massive 7,000 mAh battery. In practical terms, that means two to three days of heavy everyday use without reaching for a charger. The smartphone runs on a Kirin 9030S processor paired with HarmonyOS 7, which claims a 28% jump in operating speed, while proprietary HyperSpace memory optimization makes its 12 GB of RAM perform like 16 GB. The camera setup avoids obvious compromises, offering a 200 MP primary sensor with optical image stabilization, a 50 MP telephoto lens with OIS, and an 8 MP ultrawide camera. Connectivity features include dual physical SIM slots, dual eSIM support, and BeiDou satellite messaging with photo-sharing capability.
The base 12/256 GB configuration starts at $900, with shipments beginning September 9. It is distinctly a niche proposition: buyers gain remarkable battery life and unmatched usable screen real estate, but must accept a broad footprint that demands two-handed operation.
