Five hundred dollars for a toothbrush is a great way to test just how deep marketing can reach into your personal wallet. IFA 2026 has wrapped up in Berlin, and manufacturers are once again trying to convince us that a modern human cannot survive without built-in artificial intelligence and exotic sensors.

Let us be honest: the consumer electronics industry has hit a wall of banal improvements. To pry another round sum out of your pocket, brands split into two camps: some craft concepts you cannot possibly buy, while others slap cameras onto basic hygiene items.

Technology for the exhibition booth

Tecno brought a conceptual smartphone to Berlin featuring so-called Zero Border Technology (a design where the display stretches visually all the way to the metal frame of the device). The screen specs are impressive: a 6.78-inch diagonal, 1.5K resolution, and a 144 Hz refresh rate.

The screen reaches all the way to the frame, but this marvel of engineering will never hit store shelves.

It looks like a classic exhibition showcase: pretty on video, but the device is not going into production yet, which means you will not have to swap your current phone right now.

A camera in your teeth and anti-snoring earbuds

Things are much more interesting with gadgets that already carry real price tags. Dyson decided that regular teeth brushing is not enough and released the CameraJet brush featuring a built-in camera with a macro lens. This pleasure costs exactly 500 dollars — for that money, the device literally peers at your jaw from the inside.

Anker is keeping pace with its Soundcore Sleep Earbuds 4 Pro. Sales of these compact sleep earbuds kick off in November priced at 350 dollars. The gadget tracks a sleeping person's condition and masks ambient sounds.

Folding luxury and detachable optics

For fans of larger screens, Xiaomi showcased the 18 Fold. The outer display measures 5.38 inches, while the inner one reaches 7.58 inches. Unfolded, the body thickness is 5.02 mm with a weight of 219 grams. In China, the novelty starts at 10,999 yuan — the price for a thin folding body remains premium.

Hohem demonstrated a curious hybrid: the Eyepic device shoots 4K video at 60 frames per second with full resolution both horizontally and vertically. The camera can be detached from the gimbal and worn separately. Hohem Eyepic sales are scheduled for early 2027, with pricing yet to be announced.

They promised to revolutionize our daily lives with innovations and make life simpler. In reality, they rolled out a toothbrush with a lens for half a grand and concept gear with no release date.
