Is Nacon's $230 PS5 controller screen actually worth paying for?

Nacon's new $230 Revolution 5 Unlimited is the first officially licensed PS5 pad with a built-in control screen. We look at whether on-device settings tuning justifies the steep luxury price tag over standard controllers.

Nacon has announced its new Revolution 5 Unlimited, an officially licensed controller built for PS5 consoles, according to the announcement. The controller stands as the world's first officially licensed PS5 pad equipped with a built-in control screen. It lands on shelves for $229.99 / £179.99 / €199.99. That price tag pushes the hardware straight into the luxury tier, where elite controllers are expected to justify every extra dollar with tangible performance gains. In our view, Nacon is betting heavily that players will pay top dollar just for the convenience of tweaking settings directly on the hardware instead of digging through console menus or mobile apps.

The screen allows for instant adjustments without ever leaving the game, letting you manage audio mixing, joystick sensitivity, and shortcut mapping on the fly. Traditional pro controllers rely on companion software running on a PC or a smartphone to remap buttons and adjust triggers. Nacon's approach puts that dashboard right between your palms. Whether that tiny display is a genuine workflow upgrade or an expensive gimmick depends entirely on how often you actually change your tuning mid-match.

Under the Hood and On the Shelf

Beyond the headline-grabbing display, Nacon packed the hardware with serious competitive upgrades. As Yannick Allaert, director of Nacon's accessories division, stated, the company aims to give competitive and demanding players a state-of-the-art instrument. The Revolution 5 Unlimited features TMR magnetic technology to improve reliability and precision while reducing power consumption, marking its debut in Nacon's hardware lineup. The controller offers micro-switch action buttons and Trigger Blockers with instant trigger technology. These features let you switch from a long, squishy analog pull to an ultra-short mouse-click instantly, which is genuinely useful for shooters.

Advanced software features include the Shooter Pro Mode, which completely removes joystick dead zones to deliver enhanced responsiveness, precision, and performance. Out of the box, the package includes comprehensive accessories, a storage case, and a dedicated charging dock. You also get triple connectivity spanning PS5 consoles, PC, and Android Smart TVs, supported by a dedicated mobile app for fine-tuning advanced settings, alongside a dedicated PC mode for ultra-low 1ms latency.

What This Means in Your Hands

If you already own a premium pad like the DualSense Edge, dropping another $229.99 on the Revolution 5 Unlimited requires serious justification. The built-in screen is neat, but most players set their sensitivity profiles once and forget them. You are paying a heavy premium for a hardware feature that solves a problem most people only deal with occasionally through software.

Check your current controller for stick drift and dead-zone frustration this week before dropping two and a half hundreds on a screen-equipped gamepad you might not actually need.
