Does UGREEN’s Liquid-Cooled MagSafe Battery Actually Save Your iPhone?

UGREEN added a swirling liquid cooling loop to a 10,000 mAh MagSafe power bank to tame 25W wireless charging heat. At $95 to $149, it looks like a sci-fi prop, but the chunky chassis lacks a kickstand and changes how your phone sits in your hand.

Wireless charging on the go is a reliable way to turn your smartphone into a pocket-sized heating pad, and accessory makers keep inventing elaborate excuses to justify it. On the back of UGREEN’s new 10,000 mAh power bank, there is a literal viewing window displaying a swirling liquid cooling loop designed to tame the thermal chaos of 25-watt Qi2 wireless charging.

On the back of the battery, there’s a window that showcases the liquid within the battery bank moving throughout it.

It is a delightfully excessive piece of design borrowed straight from custom PC building, but the manufacturer expects serious money for the novelty. The standard retail price sits at $149, though introductory discounts on Amazon frequently drop it closer to $95. That is an aggressive price point for a portable battery, meaning it is time to look past the marketing theater and figure out whether circulating fluid actually changes the physics of charging your phone in daily life.

What the Liquid Loop Actually Does in Your Hand

According to UGREEN’s marketing claims, the internal cooling loop drops operating temperatures by roughly 18 degrees, but basic thermodynamics remains undefeated. Moving 25 watts of power through the air generates substantial heat, and a transparent reservoir cannot rewrite the laws of physics.

Independent testers have found that the battery never feels genuinely cold; rather, it simply runs a few degrees tamer than standard high-output competitors under identical workloads. The housing still gets noticeably warm during fast wireless transfers. Furthermore, the fluid routing makes the brick quite chunky, and UGREEN omitted a built-in kickstand—a glaring omission for a device anchored to the back of a phone. On the bright side, the unit includes an integrated USB-C cable tucked neatly along the bottom edge for wired top-ups, alongside a small side display showing remaining capacity percentage and real-time charging speeds.

Is It Worth Buying and What Does It Mean for You?

If you are part of the camp whose anxiety spikes every time a magnetic wireless charger warms up your phone during a summer commute, this liquid-cooled brick will handle the job. Just be prepared for the ergonomic reality: due to its sheer thickness, the battery tends to jut out awkwardly past the bottom edge of standard-sized iPhones, potentially throwing off your grip.

For $95 on promotion, you are paying for thermal mitigation wrapped in an undeniably cool sci-fi aesthetic, but you are also paying a premium for a bulky chassis that lacks a folding stand. Before pulling the trigger, measure your current case clearance and decide whether a few degrees of temperature reduction justifies carrying a miniature radiator in your pocket.
